Perinatal Therapist Supporting Women in Missouri & Florida

Andrea Crafton

Licensed Professional Counselor • Perinatal Mental Health Certified • Trained Birth & Postpartum Doula

I will never forget the day I became a mom for the first time. I wasn't prepared for how difficult the experience would be. My first birth was traumatic, and postpartum brought challenges I hadn't expected—returning to work just two weeks after having my baby, struggling with breastfeeding, caring for a baby who wasn't gaining weight, and trying to heal from a second-degree tear. I felt overwhelmed during a time I had expected to look very different.

When I became pregnant with my second child after experiencing secondary unexplained infertility, I knew I wanted a different experience. That pregnancy eventually led to a healing water birth and gave me an even deeper appreciation for how profoundly pregnancy, birth, and postpartum experiences can affect a mother.

My own journey through motherhood helped shape my passion for supporting women through these seasons, but it is my professional training and more than 10 years of experience in the perinatal period that guide the care I provide today.

I specialize in supporting women through pregnancy, postpartum depression and anxiety, birth trauma, fertility challenges, and pregnancy loss. These experiences can bring anxiety, grief, anger, overwhelm, or a sense that you no longer recognize yourself. Therapy gives you a place to slow down, talk openly about what you're experiencing, and feel heard without judgment.

Our work together is collaborative and individualized. I want you to feel involved in your care while we develop practical coping tools, process difficult experiences, and work toward helping you feel more grounded, confident, and connected to yourself.

My Approach to Therapy

I take a holistic, trauma-informed approach to therapy that recognizes the connection between emotional and physical well-being. Depending on your individual needs and goals, our work may incorporate cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), compassion-focused therapy, mindfulness, bilateral stimulation, person-centered therapy, and mind-body strategies.

My training in birth and postpartum doula care also gives me an additional understanding of the physical, emotional, and practical experiences surrounding pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. While I don't provide doula services, this background helps inform my understanding of the perinatal experience and the unique challenges women may face during this season of life.

I believe you deserve care that respects your experiences, values, and choices. Pregnancy, birth, postpartum, fertility, and loss can be deeply personal, and therapy should be a place where you feel heard—not judged, dismissed, or told how you should feel.

You don't have to have everything figured out before reaching out for support. Sometimes therapy begins simply by having a place to tell your story, make sense of what you're carrying, and decide what you need moving forward.

I look forward to hearing from you,

Andrea

A Few Things About Me

  • I’m a boy mom, and when we’re not at home, there’s a good chance you’ll find our family on a baseball field, soccer field, or basketball court.

  • We’re an animal-loving family. We have Izzy, our adopted beagle/hound, two adopted cats named Dolly and Jules, and chickens.

  • I love gardening and flowers, especially zinnias.

  • I could happily live the rest of my life without seeing snow again. Give me the ocean breeze, the river, and sunshine any day.

  • I love the smell of rain, freshly mowed grass, and freshly tilled soil.

  • My second baby's water birth was a healing experience for me after my difficult first birth.
